Beyond Borders: Readings and Conversations with African American, LGBTQ and other marginalized writers, Saturday, May 4, 3:30-4:30pm

Karen English began writing stories when she was seven. Her mother called them, The Miss Flouncy Stories. She wishes she could read just one Flouncy story today just to see what her skill level was, at seven. She’s had some writing success, having won the Coretta Scott King Honor award for her middle grade novel, Francie, and having been a Kirkus Award finalist for her novel, It All Comes Down to This. She is the mother of four children and four grandchildren. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband.
